TDC Adapter (OEM T10170)
The TDC adapter is fitted into the first (number 1 cylinder) cylinder spark plug hole. The extension makes contact with the piston face and as the engine is slowly rotated the DTI indicates the TDC, or the highest point required.
This is TDC and camshafts should line up in this position. Many modern engines have an interference combustion area and if not the correct timing position is set will result in serious damage to the valves and other parts of the engine.
Camshaft Alignment Tool (OEM T10171)
If the camshaft timing marks are not correctly aligned with the engine set at TDC (most likely firing on number 3 so the camshaft will be 180° out), turn the Crankshaft 360° and check the camshaft timing mark again. Fit the camshaft alignment tool.
If the camshaft alignment tool can still not be fitted the valve timing is incorrect. The lugs on the tool should simply fit into the cutouts on the back of the camshafts.
Tensioner Pin (OEM T40011)
Fit the tensioner locking pin to hold the chain tensioner back, allowing the removal of the camshaft sprockets and chain.
Set the camshaft positions and align using the Camshaft Alignment Tool.
Crankshaft Locking Pin (OEM T10340)
Use the Crankshaft Locking tool when loosening and tightening the crank pulley bolt.
This is for holding the front pulley only and does not align the crankshaft to TDC. To set TDC remove this locking pin and use the other tools in this kit to source TDC.
